Tips for Thursday 4th January, 2018
4.20 Newcastle – Ingleby Angel 5-2 widely available
1pt win Fin 3RD -£10
Ingleby Angel was unlucky on boxing day and it doesn’t surprise me to see him out quickly. This 1m at Newcastle should suit him and he ran well over this C and D in a hot enough claimer two starts back. If he can get a good tow into this and be ridden with confidence in behind the pace then this should set up nicely for him. He is the best horse in this race and I fully expect him to take all the beating.
4.55 Newcastle – Oriental Lilly 7-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Won Return £52
Oriental Lilly ran pleasingly here last time out over this C and D. Freshened up since she should be primed and ready for this. Goldie loves having winners here and he has his string in good form at present. There is enough pace in here to set this up for a finisher and Oriental Lilly fits that bill. Expect her to be played late and ridden with restraint.
6.45 Chelmsford – Wicker 5-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin 3rd Return £11.80 (RULE 4 15P IN THE POUND)
Wicker has run two good races here. She won a maiden last time out but before that was a solid 3rd of this mark in a handicap. That particular race is working out very well with the winner, 2nd and 4th all winning. Wicker was arguably unlucky that day running into trouble turning for home so she is worth keeping on side tomorrow. Stall 2 is a cracking draw and her maiden win will have given her confidence. I am hoping to see her find cover just off the pace and be delivered inside the final furlong.
8.15 Chelmsford – Exchequer 3-1 widely available/Firmdecisions 10-1 widely available
1pt win Exchequer Fin 3RD -£10
0.5pts E/W Firmdecisions Fin 2ND Return £13
Two in here look worth keeping on side. Firstly Exchequer must go close, he would have won last time out but for trouble in running. He was out wide the whole trip as well so the fact he still came swinging into on the bridle marks him up considerably. He has stall 2 tomorrow which is a cracking draw and with the tongue tie applied for the first time he should take all the beating. If there is one who is good enough to beat him on his best form it is Firmdecisions. He has dropped to a very lenient mark (now 4lb below his last winning mark that came over this C and D). He has shown promise on his last two starts and now coming back to his favourite C and D of only 80 he must go well. Stall 6 is fine and as long as he breaks smartly he will be able to take up his usual prominent racing position. He was better than the finishing position last time out and it doesn’t surprise me to see them returning here. Winston rides which is key given the fact Ivory has two in here and you’d think Winston would have the
