Win and Place Investment Plan – Day 14

1st December Day 14

No selections today.

I’ve gone through the previous days and marked with an asterix (*) the selections which may be “discretionary” selections.

The problem is that the rules are somewhat flexible when the field size is outside 8 -12 runners. Subscribers to the online or telephone selections are not told which of the selections in large or small fields are “discretionary” and which ones fit the rules tightly. The only way to find this out is to pay for the Racing Post, which defeats the object of paying for the subscription. I’ll carry on reporting all selections on the subscription service, but note those that may be “discretionary” selections. This is unsatisfactory and I’ll try again to see if the author/publisher can clarify how a subscriber is to recognise the discretionary selections.

So far, out of 17 selections on the subscriber service only 4 have been in races of between 8 and 12 runners and therefore definite selections! Of the other 13 selections. any number of them could have been at the subscriber’s discretion. Of the 4 definite selections 2 won, 1 was placed and 1 lost. Giving a level stake loss of -1.16 (before Betfair commission) for the win bets and a loss on the place bets of -0.68 points.
