Welcome to the very first Horse Racing Blog Post here on Betting System Truths.

My name is Paula and I’m an ex jockey who now runs this website.

The idea of this horse racing blog is so I can give my views on certain races or anything interesting in the Racing news and if I hear anything from inside the Racing World I can write it here and people can leave their views, tips, naps whatever it maybe in the comment box below.

Let’s dive straight into what has been happening over the Christmas period.

Good news for Horse Racing is records were set with Bumper crowds over the festive period, that might of been helped with the quality of horses on display.

More people than ever before put on their Christmas jumpers and braved the cold to see the likes of Thistlecrack and Cue Card battle it out in the King George, Yanworth in the Christmas Hurdle and the following day Native River win the Welsh National.

Also the return of racing to ITV after 32 years has proved popular, I for one was watching on New Years Day with a slight hang over I might add.

The weather couldn’t of been any wetter but I thought Tony Mccoy and Luke Harvey worked well together, Matt Chapman on the other hand is like marmite, you either love him or hate him, I enjoy watching him he is full of enthusiasm and energy but some people think he is borderline irritant. What do you think of Matt?

Boxing Day Action

77 races spread across 11 meetings a horse racing fans dream. I can’t talk about all of them otherwise I would be here till next Boxing Days meeting but the top of my list has got to be the King George.

I sent an email out just before Christmas mentioning the dual between Thistlecrack and Cue Card and I had quite a good response of people emailing me their selection, it was split really with slightly more people favouring Thistlecrack and he didn’t disappoint. Horses like him don’t come along very often and he is already an eight-year-old so he has plenty of life and racing experience.

Thistlecrack has been given a rating of 171 after this victory and he is still a novice, last year Coneygree won the Gold Cup as a novice off a rating of 174.

Thistlecrack evens favourite for the Gold Cup ……..who had their money on before the King George race at 3/1?

More of The Days Action

The Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle was a good warm up race to the King George with the 2 oldies The New One and My Tent Or Yours up against the young gun Yanworth.

Watching the race I thought Yanworth was beat as The New One and My Tent Or Yours went head to head round the final turn but Yanworth battled and finished the race the stronger of the three to win by three and a quarter lengths and securing his first Grade 1.

10/1 before the race now 6/1 for the Champion Hurdle!

Start of 2017

Black Caviar the Australian unbeaten wonder mare had her first foal named Oscietra (which means some kind of expensive caviar) hit the racetrack this week, and she is already playing catch up with her mother as she could only manage 3rd place. The expectation was so great on her before the race, so anything but first place was disappointing.

Rule 4 mistake

New Years Day seen a horse Cockney Wren declared a non-runner but still listed in the betting by mistake and just before the off shortened to 14/1 which created a deduction of 5p in the pound to any winning bets. The horse had been 16/1 beforehand which the Rule 4 doesn’t apply, it only applies to horses 14/1 or shorter and on the exchanges Cockney Wren had drifted to as big as 26.32.

As if the bookies don’t rob us enough now they shorten horses who they think might be non runners to make even more money.

Dubai Carnival

Yesterday (6th Jan) seen the start of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, which runs from January till March and has prize money of $10.9 million spread across 10 race meetings.

The 4:15 race was won by Ertijaal then just over an hour later a horse called Ertijaal finished 5th, yes you did read it correct same name, different horses…..strange!

Saturday Racing 7th Jan

Don’t forget tomorrow’s Racing is broadcast on ITV4 and it all kicks off at 10am with the Opening Show, the replacement for The Morning Line.

Want to get back some of that Christmas money then have a go at the Scoop 6, the pot is estimated at a whooping £800,000!

The big race of the day is at Sandown, The Tolworth Hurdle with only 6 runners declared it will still be a cracker. Finding the winner could be difficult as I’m finding it hard to separate the top 2 in the betting. On form, Capitaine has it as Finian’s Oscar is unexposed but the money has come for the latter all week and it’s no secret how highly regarded the Tizzard family think he is.

I’m going to stick my head on the block and tip Finian’s Oscar, I’m following the money and the in form stable.

Good luck with your bets and if you wish comment in the box below and let me know your nap of the day.

All the best
