Daily Doubles Day 36 – last day of the year (not permanently…well I hope not)

Daily Doubles

Sgt Mangog – Daily Review – doing something different today. Going to post the author’s tips early. There’s only one double bet, and out of both horses, 1 is a strong favourite anyway, hardly earth-shattering. I’m doing this so that any reader can study the horses themselves, try and work out why the selections were chosen. And also I’m tempting fate to give him a winner before the year is out…

I’d be very interested to hear of anyone subscribing to this service, and what their thoughts are. Does any reader know of a money-back guarantee with systems, or at least a free-trial period? I might make that suggestion to the author of this one…

warwick 12.30 ellens way 18/1 & newbury 13.50 robin roe 15/8

ELLENS WAY has form of 3-257 and forecast around 20/1 by the Racing Post. The F/C fav is called COPPER KAY at 4/6 presently. This is an 18 runner, class 4, novice hurdle race. Our selection hasn’t got the topspeed rating, nor the RP rating, nor any form which stands out against the more fancied horses. Its been placed in 2 point-to-point races over 3m, but unplaced in 2 other races at Exeter and Warwick over shorter distances. To boot, the more fancied horses have more proven form…so what am I missing? Since I’m 7 hours ahead of GMT, I have a good opportunity to scan the earlier prices before most punters in England are awake…even so, some of his prices are hard to come by. Not so in ELLENS WAY, it’s out to 22/1 with betvictor as of 11.45am my time (05.45am GMT). All I can say is perhaps the tipster knows something about this horse the rest of us (probably including the owner and jockey) do not? Will leave this with the reader to make any kind of mind up – any comments are appreciated.

As for ROBIN ROE (newbury 13.50)…well why would any punter need this tip? It’s self-explanatory. This is a grade 1 race, eight runners in total, and our “tip” is the forecasted fav at 7/4. You can bet your dogs dinner that all these horses will trying for the 1st prize of £22,780 (as opposed to a lesser £3,899 for the Warwick 12.30)…so in all honesty, “tipping” the favourite in this race isn’t really what any subscriber would be looking for. On paper this selection has a good chance of winning, not a dead-cert, but it should be there or thereabouts, barring accidents. But any punter wouldn’t need any kind of “tip” to be able to work out this race – I noticed with this system, the author tends to put a “favourite” with an outsider…just doesn’t come in as often as is hoped and the figures below reflect that.

If I do get any more tips for today, I will post results tomorrow, but any comments from readers’ will be gratefully received. Some people may think my reviewing might be a little unkind, but facts are facts. I’m not saying the author is good or bad at tipping..I’m just saying all 87 bets have lost since November 24th. And any punter following this (or is thinking about it) needs proofing of the system, and that’s what I do. I question some of his selections at times, the same as today, this is why I posted the tips before racing starts…so any reader can understand I not only review the system, but analyse his selections as to why….

Important point to make about this system: it is NOT a consistent winner by any standard, the winners he has had over the last few months rely on a win returning around 50/1, and it’s been nearly 40 days since his last double-bet win. I don’t mind giving credit where it’s due, and in return, the tipster’s must expect honest criticism in return if the system performs badly – after all, it’s the punter’s hard-earned money they’re taking. As you can see below, before today there’s been 87 bets…all lost. I’d wager any of our readers could do better than that – and this system asks £37 a month!

When I looked further into exactly how tipster’s get their tip, it’s always the same thing…”a secret”. But getting the monthly money from punters isn’t though. One of these days, if not statistically, I’m going to be able to report a win, but as I said before, this system’s strike rate isn’t great and I think the average punter would’ve given up on this ages ago.

Total bets placed so far = 87 (ex today’s bets)

Total wins so far = 0

Total profit points so far = 0

Total spent so far = 87

Win points today = 0……….R.O.I. =  0%……….Strike Rate =  0%……….BANK =  -87 points
