Golf Bet Profits – Week 8
7 March
Week 8 and the action this week took place at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida, host of The Honda Classic. Unfortunately, no good news to report as the two selected players both failed to impress.
Australian Adam Scott, our secondary selection, went out following the second round after returning a seven then a 12 over par to finish joint 136th and did not make the cut. He had problems with the weather and from all accounts was pleased it was all over. He was even par going into the 15th hole and left it at five over after a very disappointing eight. He hit a 4-iron that ballooned into the water and then took a 9-iron out at the drop area and that caught the wind as well.
Not only was there a strong wind but at one stage lightening stopped play during the last round. Ian Poulter did not fare a great deal better. He was eight over going into the last round and returned a three under to finish 14 shots behind Rory Sabbatini, the winner, in joint 36th. To give you some idea of the difficulties the players faced, this was the response of Ian Poulter after his 73 in the third round left him eight over par.
“Why didn’t I book the dentist, colonic irrigation, paint the garden fence, arrange my stamps, iron my whole sock draw this week, more fun,” Poulter said. And he birdied the last.
