The Grand National is finally here. One of the most popular races in the world and it was first won in 1839 by a horse aptly named Lottery which what it is now to find the winner. When I am asked for tips for the National my response is, get a paper, get a pin and whichever horse it lands nearest….back it!!!

Here is the email I received last night from the anonymous tipster:

Gaskells Handicap Hurdle 1:45 Aintree

22 runner field and I think the bottom weight No Hassle Hoff has a good chance especially with the form boosted yesterday with The Worlds End winning. The trip and ground both suit and running off bottom weight could put up a big run today.

32Red International Trial Stakes 3:45 Lingfield

Majoris a colt by Frankel will suit the up in trip and if he can be fit enough for his first run since September  shouldn’t be far away and 7/1 seems value.

Grand National 5:15 Aintree

I’m not tipping anything in this but it would be rude not to mention anything about it. Here’s a few tips:

Cross out anything below the age of 8 or 12 and above.

Weight is important but I don’t think as important as it used to be when the National fences were alot harder. Many Clouds was the last winner with top weight of 11st 9lb. This is the longest and hardest handicap of the year though and I think The Last Samuri will struggle under 11st 10lbs.

Only back a horse that is proven over at least 3 miles or more. Stamina is the name of the game.

Any horses with question marks over their jumping cross out, you need a horse that can jump but doesn’t necessary have to of had a run over the national fences before, the last 7 winners had never ran over the national fences before.

My shortlist for the day are Blacklion, One For Arthur and Cause Of Causes. They will be fun bets only! People who gamble thousands in a race like this are just totally crazy.

Don’t forget the mighty Winx races tomorrow at Randwick heading for 17 wins in a row! 1/10 on so not a betting prospect.

So there you have it, your free bets for this weekend. Good Luck if you are betting and I will be back next Saturday with some more tips.

Feel free to comment below if you have any selections for any of the Saturday’s racing. I would love to hear from you as always.
