Boxing Day, always a fantastic day of racing. I have decided to concentrate on just the AW card from Wolverhampton. Usually one or two appeal over jumps but for some reason this year nothing much appeals so I am happy to sit back and watch all of it unfold. You can easily get carried away on a day like this when in reality a lot of the racing is worth leaving alone.

The Wolverhampton card is a cracker and we had a good day of profit there last year so I see no reason why we shouldn’t target it again.

Ingleby Angel has been in cracking form recently and has been unlucky not to pick up one of these handicaps. He arguably ran up to a level way above his handicap mark last time out in a claimer. The winner Choral Clan was only beaten a neck back in a handicap of 69 next time out and Ingleby Angel only finished 1.5l’s behind him of level weights. That makes his mark of 58 look very lenient and from a very good draw in stall 2 he should be well placed as long as he starts well.

I was really taken with Battle Of Marathon last time out. He won a shade cosily in my opinion and clearly relishes this C and D. The handicapper could easily have shoved him up 6lb but he has sided with only 3lb which looks lenient to me. He travelled very strongly and showed a smart turn of foot, he is equal at the weights with Enemen after that horse franked the form so has the beating of him and that also gives him the beating of Bronze Angel. Mythical Madness is a potential problem but he has stall 8 and is better over a bare mile. Battle Of Marathon is still very well treated on old form and he is quite clearly getting himself somewhere close to that level again now. I think he will take all the beating from stall 3.

Kyllachy Gala also looks worth keeping on side in here. 2nd last time out in behind Enemen, he has a 1lb swing in the weights and with a clearer run that may be enough to see him reverse the form. He has stall 5 which is fine and at an each way price he is under-estimated. He has been in great form recently and does deserve to win one of these. He goes well over this C and D and Kieran Shoemark keeps the ride.

Intisaab should take all the beating in here. He needs a good pace to aim at but he should get that with three different pace setters in here. It is surely going to be run at an extreme tempo and from stall 4 Intisaab should get the perfect sit in behind. He is in a great form at present and has a nice swing in the weights with Double Up which should see him reverse the form. Salateen is better over further, Mythmaker always seems to find a few too good in this grade, Kimberella has a penalty and a tough draw, Gulliver was awful last time out and both Polybius and Line Of Reason have a bit to prove at present returning for breaks back on the AW. It all points towards Intisaab being very tough to beat.

I am convinced Outer Space has been plotted for a handicap win just like this for some time. Held back in claimers the last twice his handicap mark has dropped 7lb since he last competed in a handicap. He finished 5th that day in a class 4 of 82, now running of 75 in a class 5 he must have major claims. In my opinion he is a better horse than this grade and from stall 2 as long as he can break on terms then he should take all the beating. There is some juice in his price and he should get a good pace to aim at with various front runners in here. As always luck in running will be needed but that’s the risk you take with horse racing.
