Mythical Madness reared at the start, blowing the start by 5l’s if not more and that was his race over. Kirby’s fault not the horses as he has got his timing’s horribly wrong trying to preempt the start. Not ideal but not a lot we can do I’m afraid, this is racing.

Tips for Tuesday 16th January, 2018

Trotter steps up to 7f’s for the first time and that should prove ideal on recent evidence. He has been staying on strongly over 6f’s recently and is never stronger than at the finish. He’s a young horse and has scope for further improvement with a new trip added. Stall 2 is a big bonus while the red hot Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle. It all points towards a big run in what looks an open enough contest.

Makaarim seems to be improving rapidly at the moment. He was unlucky last time out as he was given far too much to do from the back of the field. The late progress he made really marks him up as one to follow on the AW and I do get the impression this AW track should suit him best. He likes to come with a strong late run and those tactics usually perform well here. There is loads of pace in here and that should suit him perfectly.

Ardamir seems to have found some of his old zest in recent starts. He changed hands earlier in the year from Alan King’s yard to Laura Mongan’s. He was out of form for 4 or 5 runs however he made a resurgence at Lingfield when beaten only 1l by Take Two and I needed to see that he could back that up. He did that last time out at this track over 11f’s, he was very strong at the finish that day and we know from back form that this step back up in trip should suit. Down 1lb and now back in good form he should go very close for in form Oisin Murphy.
