3.30 Newcastle – Purple Rock 6-1 widely available

Purple Rock won on his only start over this C and D and comes here tomorrow of a 2lb lower mark than for that win. He ran his best race for some time last time out on turf when finishing 6^th at Pontefract and it does look likely that he will go close tomorrow. Mick Easterby is a shrewd operator and he has his team in fine form at the moment. Stall 5 is a good draw and over a C and D he clearly relishes Purple Rock should put in a big performance.

4.05 Newcastle – Bowson Fred 11-2 widely available

I obviously think Mick Easterby is going to have a good day at Newcastle as I like his horse in here Bowson Fred. He is undoubtedly a well handicapped horse at present, he finished 2^nd over this C and D in a class 2 handicap of 97. Tomorrow he runs of 92 and is dropped into a class 3 handicap, he shwoed clear signs last time out that he was returning to some sort of form and tomorrow may just be the right day to catch him. He is handicapped to win, Mulrennan takes over from an inexperienced claimer and he should go very close.

7.30 Chelmsford – Shady McCoy 7-1 widely available

Ian Williams has his team in fine form and his Shady McCoy comes here on the back a good run at Lingfield where he was given far too much to do from a wide draw. He still ran on very well in what was a very hot race for the grade, this drop back in trip at a more galloping track like Chelmsford should really suit him. Stall 6 is a good draw for this horse and Kingscote is obviously an eye-catching booking. Top weight isn’t ideal but he has quite a bit of class in comparison to his rivals and I am hoping that will see him through.

8.30 Chelmsford – Samphire Coast 14-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin 2nd returned £22.50

Samphire Coast carries bottom weight in here and looks worth chancing each way. He has stall 2 which is a fantastic draw and as long as breaks well then he should be well placed to take advantage of his feather weight in here. This is a tough race but the big field and likely strong pace should suit Samphire Coast who seems to always put in his best performances at this track. He’s handicapped to go close and like I said much will depend on how he starts but if he gets that right his price could look huge. All his best form has come over 1m so the 7f’s is a worry however with all the pace in here the race may run more like a 1m contest and that is an angle that interests me given his price.
