Tough week to take at the end of a terrific month and year but that’s racing. Losing weeks happen and there is very little you can do about it.

We come away from the month 46pts up which is a great profit haul from just 1pt stakes, over the year we have made 223pts profit from just 1pt stakes which is a great return. We started the year slowly but really picked up during the summer and have continued that form through the Winter. I will have a year review out over the next day or so where I go through every month and identify those in which we need to perform better. I will also revisit some highlights in every month and it is sure to provide you all with some fond memories.

Again I just want to say thanks for a great year together, we have had some amazing day’s/months and seeing the success stories is the best part of this job.

Plenty of early pace in here and that should play to the strengths of Kickboxer. He came from a very long way back over this C and D last time out to be beaten just a nose. The winner got an easy time of it that day up front but tomorrow looks as if it will play more to Kickboxers strengths. Appleby loves having a winner at Southwell and he should go close to adding another here.

Sametegal ran a career best last time out in the Becher. He showed that day his liking for heavy conditions and now dropped back in trip slightly he will prove a tough horse to beat. He seems to be an improved model this season and his form in behind Guitar Pete has been franked since by the winner. He looks well placed and Sam gets the ride on board.

Majestic Moon is an interesting runner in here. He has tumbled down the weights since the start of last season but has shown promise on his last two starts at this track. Firstly a solid enough 4th over a mile before an eye-catching 3rd over 7f’s. 7f’s here looks to be his trip so the fact he remains over that distance is a bonus, he has a nice weight pull with the likes of Monsieur Jimmy and Muqarred which should see him reverse the form and that alone puts him in with leading claims. The one possible improver is Kelly’s Dino but given he has been off since 2015 I am happy to take him on with this more reliable type.
