D G Tips Review Day 63

Sgt Mick Review

2nd January

Dear Member
Small loss today, not much we can do about it. Two tips who ran to form placed for each way returns and were unlucky not to win while the one to let us down was a pulled up last who was reported lame.
We all know the pendulum will swing and those 2nds will start becoming 1sts. We have performed well today but come away down when usually we’d be coming away with a winner and a place.
Kickboxer was awful. He was reported lame after the race which explains why he has finished last. Not much we can do about this just bad luck that we were on him today.
Sametegal ran a good race for 3rd. Sam gave the horse a good ride but a few bad jumps has cost him his winning chance. Each way returns.
Majestic Moon finished 2nd beaten just a neck. He was beaten by Kelly’s Dino who I flagged up as the only danger. Trouble is you could never tip Kelly’s Dino up as he hasn’t seen a racecourse for a long time and had practically no form to go on. Anyone backing that horse is a hit and hope job, he was 33-1 earlier in the day which is a little annoying but backing horses like that won’t get you very far. Anyway each way returns again.
Tips for Tuesday 2nd January, 2017

4.10 Newcastle – Alexandrakollontai 14-1 widely available/Waarif 7-1 widely available
Both 0.5pts E/W Alexandrakollontai Fin Unp -£10………Waarif Fin 2nd Return £12
Course form stands for a lot here and the two that make plenty of appeal are Alexandrakollontai and Waarif. The bookies always seem to under-estimate Alexandrakollontai but they shouldn’t because he goes well here and also is down to a workable mark. I like a middle to high draw here so the fact he is drawn in stall 5 is a positive. They made far too much use of him last time out and he is better when held up a little, if they employ those tactics tomorrow he should outrun his odds. I am also not done backing Waarif, given the way he has travelled and finished over 1m 2f’s maybe this drop back in trip is exactly what he needs. He has some new headgear on tomorrow which I get the impression should help and the fact Danny Tudhope is back board is huge bonus taking over from Fran Berry. Tudhope rides this track so well and he is invaluable over the straight mile.
4.40 Newcastle –Dragon Mall 9-2 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin 3rd -£10 (only 7 ran)
I am going to give Dragon Mall a chance here. He is a very well handicapped horse at present and may have been refreshed by a break since running at York. Let’s not forget he finished 9th in this year’s Wolferton of 101. That is a high class 1 handicap and now running of 98 back down trip and grade he could easily romp this. It’s a bit of a risk admittedly but it’s worth it given his credentials.
5.10 Newcastle – Intisaab 3-1 widely available
1pt win Fin Unp -£10
I am quite keen on Intisaab in here. We were on him at Wolves the other day when he won and he is quite clearly in rich form. For me this drop back to 5f’s at this track should really suit him given the abundance of pace in here. He has ran well here before over 6f’s and clearly likes this sort of a test, 6f horses running over shorter at this track do well when dropped back to 5f’s and I expect Intisaab to go very close under Tudhope who rides this track so well.
6.10 Newcastle –Rich Again 10-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin Unp Return £15
Rich Again is a very well handicapped horse at present and always seems to show his best form here. The booking of Tudhope tomorrow really catches the eye and although he didn’t perform last time out before that he ran well here and I believe a return to his favourite C and D of a lenient mark with Tudhope should see him go very close.
Good Luck
