D G Tips Review Day 64

Sgt Mick Review

3rd January

Dear Member
Not much I can really say, you all have eyes and see what I see. Waarif beaten in a photo, Dragon Mall given 10l’s to make up in a furlong (he made up 9 1/2f’s), Intisaab backed into 13-8 denied a clear run in a slowly run race despite there being so much pace in the race on paper. (Tudhope ill, so Gray took over who has never ridden the horse) and then Rich Again 3rd beaten 1/2l. Yes we take place money from Waarif and Rich Again but we should be coming away with at least two winners today.
I just don’t know what more I can do, it’s only been a week but I can’t remember a time when we have had so much bad luck over a 7 day period. We have had 8places, 3 2nds, 2 beaten in photos and that is before we even go into the likes of Dragon Mall given so much to do, Beepeecee denied a clear run for the whole final furlong and Reckless Endeavour a similar story. I guess we can take it as a stern reminder just how difficult this game can be and the importance of having a system in place to combat losing runs. 7 days and a loss of 11pts really doesn’t impact us long term when we are up 740pts in 27months. Yes it’s not ideal but we are calling so much spot on and the pendulum will swing as it always does.
Another dose of bad luck in the first today as Waarif was beaten a nostril in a photo, his head was in front for every yard of the mile bar the line. Each way returns but yet again some tough luck fair play. Tudhope rode him brilliantly.
Alexandrakollontai drifted all day and was never really given much chance by his jockey. I get the impression they are trying to get his handicap mark down.
Dragon Mall was given an absolute shocker from Donohoe, fell asleep early and jockey error has seen the horse beat. He was given 10l’s to make up on the winner with a furlong to go, he made up 9 1/2f’s. We called this right, best horse in the race, best handicapped horse in the race but we can’t judge how a jockey will ride sadly.
This race was filled with so much pace yet the race was run at an absolute crawl, the winner made all. Intisaab travelled very well but was short for room when the race quickened and ultimately got caught out. Tudhope fell ill before the race and as a result Gray took the ride. Gray has never ridden the horse before so I guess our fate was sealed by another dose of poor luck.
Rich Again ran on well for 3rd. He was only beaten 1/2l by the winner but we take each way returns. PJ rode him very well.
Just one tomorrow at Southwell, he has the draw, the form and is running off a nice mark so hopefully he will make it a profitable day. Thursday will be a very busy day looking ahead so it would be nice to go into it on the back of a winner.
Tips for Wednesday 3rd January, 2018

3.40 Southwell – Big Amigo 13-2 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin 2nd Return  £11.50
Big Amigo is a horse I like to follow at Southwell as generally speaking he gives you a good run for your money. He is now down to a very workable mark and if they have ironed out his tendencies to hang then he will go very close. Even if he does hang he has been running to a nice level recently and from a good draw that should easily see him place at the very least.
Good Luck
