D G Tips Review Day 77
Sgt Mick Review
17th January
Nice to add another winner last night with Mount Tahan. He was given a lot to do from the back of the field and the pace wasn’t strong so he did very well to win. A performance that needs marking up.
Onto today…
Two very disappointing performances so far tonight.
Trotter travelled very well into the race but clearly doesn’t stay 7f’s. 6f’s is obviously his absolute limit and that’s that. My fault and a poor tip, Oisin had him perfectly placed and the horse had no excuses.
Makaarim had every chance but was bitterly disappointing. I’m not sure what to make of that run moving forward, it was almost too bad to be true but then he had no excuses.
We still have to go so let’s hope he performs well.
Tips for Wednesday 17th January, 2018
12.40 Lingfield – Pearl Spectre 4-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Fin Unp -£10
I’m torn between Mr Bossy Boots and Pearl Spectre in here. I am going to side with the latter as he should be able dominate and comes here in cracking form. Mr Bossy Boots has disappointed on recent starts and although now down a lenient 5lb he does have a tough enough draw in stall 6. In contrast stall 3 is a great draw for this horse who likes to dominate from start to finish. Back down to his last winning mark and partnered with the in form Nicola Currie he should run a big race. If we are on the wrong one then I will take that on the chin but on current form I just can’t be having Mr Bossy Boots in here despite his obvious well handicapped appeal.
2.50 Lingfield – Widnes 11-4 widely available
1pt win Lost – £10
We were on Widnes last time out and truth be told he should have won. Josephine seemed to fall asleep at a crucial moment turning for home and that gave the winner first run. Only up 1lb this horse is still well treated and the extra furlong should really suit. He can blow the start however he was fast away last time out so I am hoping that means they have ironed out that problem. Fran Berry rides which is annoying as I’d rather someone like Kirby on board but the horse should go close so I won’t let that put me off.
6.00 Newcastle – Testa Rossa 6-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W Won Return £46
Much like his trainer Testa Rossa absolutely loves this C and D and looks well handicapped dropped back a mile. He has a win here of 76 so a mark of 77 is more than workable, he was last seen running well for 5th over 2f’s further at this track. That form is holding up and now down to what I deem to be his best trip he should run a big race. His trainer is in fantastic form and Phil Dennis rides this track well negating an extra 3lb.
