Hardcourt Heroes – Day 24

Hardcourt Heroes – January 5
Hi Bloggers,
About one point down last night and certainly frustrating not to have a profitable day after Atlanta missed the potential game winning shot at the buzzer in an 85-84 loss to Detroit.
We have 6 straight bets today including 2 bigger underdogs in Sacramento and Golden State, and 4 favorites which we’ll also combine for the daily parlay.
Some of you have been writing in asking for explanations of why I pick certain teams, and while it would take way too long to provide detailed reasoning for every single bet I will take some time to explain today’s 2 underdog picks, which should give you a better understanding of the type of analysis that goes into every bet.
Sacramento have been playing much better of late and won 6 of their last 10. Although they are just 3-13 away from home they have won 2 in a row on the road including a dominating performance last night at Toronto, a team that had won 5 in a row at home and 8 out of 10 overall.
Tonight they face Brooklyn, who are also improved of late and who’ve won 4 of 5 since last week’s coaching change. However, Brooklyn have been prone to mental lapses so far this season. It’s their first game back from a road trip, and many NBA teams come out flat in their first game back at home as they tend to relax and/or get distracted by family and other things in their lives.
Added to that, the Nets were forced to battle very hard for a double overtime win in Washington last night and they should be physically drained, and all those factors make an upset much more likely than it would be if Brooklyn were rested and in the middle of a homestand.
As for Golden State, they seem to match up well with the Clippers and have beaten them twice already this season, once at home and once away. The most recent of those was just 3 days ago when Golden State were dominant in a 21 point home win, and they’ve been resting and preparing for tonight’s rematch ever since, so should be plenty fresh and confident. The Clippers, on the other hand, fought very hard for an emotionally and physically draining win over the LA Lakers last night, so may well find it difficult to find enough energy and intensity necessary to win again tonight against a team that’s had their number so far this season.
