I thought I’d take this opportunity to clarify the results thus far – even at this early stage.
A loss of a little over 12 pts is certainly not an ideal start. However this figure uses the lay price at or about the off. Having looked at my notes I took throughout the day, the figure would be different if you had bet before the off. For example, on Saturday, Babycakes went off at (and lost at) 9.9, but at 11:44 that morning, was available to lay at 5.9 so the potential for another +0.95 pts after commission was there.
Also, looking at Friday, Verdant set off and won at a starting price of 5.9 which cost us -4.9 pts. However, I noted that 4.7 was available in advance of the off. The horse still won (and lost us money) , but you could have shaved 1.2 pts off the loss – if not more had you chosen to watch the market.
The point of this is that I am quoting results to the start price, but people who can’t be glued to their computer at the start of each race can still use this system and get different results.
